#TEFforum2016. My journey to lagos.

Hello,
It's no more news that I, through my company, My Figure 8 wellness and events, have been chosen as a Tony Elumelu entrepreneur for the class of 2016. So on thursday, 27th of October, I joined others from 54 countries in Africa to conclude what is the last step in the 7 pillars of the Tony Elumelu foundation, the entrepreneurship forum.
Lateefah from Lagos, Dennis from Zambia and I

We arrived in time for dinner. I had jollof rice, coconut rice and fish.

After dinner we were treated to a fashion show by the Fashion entrepreneurs.

We started bonding immediately!

My roomie, Chioma got a free neck piece for being bold enough to come out and dance.

Then came the days.
Much as i want to give you all the gist, I'm sure i won't do justice. The videos are o YouTube. Just search for Tony Elumelu foundation and watch as many as you can.
I'll just leave some pictures here, and do some follow up posts soon by God's grace.
In all it was a wonderful experience, I met new friends from countries I had never heard of, and was inducted into a community of entrepreneurs in Africa.
If you have an idea and you need training, mentoring and seed, please apply as soon as the clock hits January 1st 2017.

Peace I'm out!

WIMBIZ Ibadan roundtable

Hi
How have you been?
Great I hope?
How are you treating the economy?
I'm full of questions today right?

Okay, I'm done with that...for now. I have news for you.
One, my businesses are merging, I'll give you gist soon.
Two, I went for the #wimbiz Ibadan round table lunch today and it was great!
I was the last one too (I talked about it here), but I particularly enjoyed this one cause there were more young women there than at the last. (Not tat I have a thing against older women o, I just like to know there are people like me).

"Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), a Nigeria based non-profit organisation was formed in 2001 by 14 individuals. WIMBIZ has an overriding vision “to be the catalyst that elevates the status and influence of women and their contribution to nation building”. Our programs are also geared towards increasing the success rate of female entrepreneurs and the proportion of women in senior positions in corporate organizations. We are also a volunteer-based organization, funded largely by donations and contributions by members and participants."

Wimbiz annual conference comes up this year on the 3rd and 4th November. Register here.

Back to the event. We had two speakers, first was soft spoken Adeola Layade, CEO of Exquisito confectioneries. She spoke about passion in business, gave us examples o women who are leading through passion, and also talked about niche identification, brand positioning and scale up strategies. Her parting words were perhaps the loudest:

Adeola Layade, Exquisito confectioneries
"Do not share your thoughts with people who have different from yours. Sometimes their negativity and fears can throw you off course".

The second speaker spoke with so much passion, I could see women empowerment was a thing for her!
Mrs Tinuke Smith of Datina designs started from where the first speaker ended.
Mrs Tinuke Smith of Datina designs
"Passion is not enough!"
To passion you must add compassion and knowledge.
She also talked about how we as women entrepreneurs need to have apurpose, plan, collaborate with each other (somebody say amen to that!), differentiate our brands, be flexible enough to make changes or quit when there is need.
During the Q&A, Aunty Femi Olayebi of My world of bags said something profound. "Don't strive for perfection, strive for excellence".
And then there was a surprise cake for Faramola from her MIL to be... Isn't that just cute?

Passion to profit online business seminar

passion to profit online business seminar.
to connect with people from all over the world.
I was invited by Oluwaseun Akinlotan to facilitate at the 2 weeks ONLINE passion to profit workshop for business owners and I'm so excited, and it's not because I'm facilitating, it's because I'm going to learn so much from the secret Facebook group that will be created and the live webinars, plus I will also get
I'll be talking about "the you in your business: matching your personality with your business and taking care of you while running your profitable business.
For a long time I struggled with following up on clients, having to spend time with people and all (when all I wanted was to be alone, strategizing, writing, reading.... Alone! And then come back to share what I learned) I love my clients though, but some things are just not me. #sigh😞 needless to say, I became really stressed.
I discovered a way, and now I'm going to share it, and like I said, I'm excited!
To register, please go to  the link and mention that you heard about it from me so she can know I have a tribe and they are ready for profit!😀😀😀💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
