Run your own race

Hello
How was your weekend? Mine was cool. I played hostess to first time guests and it wasn't so bad after all. lol
OK, on to today's business. Some months ago, I recorded a pod cast on "the definition of success" . I realize that it's easy for us as women to look at what other people are doing and achieving and feel somewhat inadequate.

It's great to look inwards and determine what's most important to you, plan your life around them and gauge your success based on that not on what A or B have or do.
I used to feel really bad when I see ladies who have NGOs, go to orphanages, do this and that until i realized that what I was called to is to encourage women to go all out and be who God has called them to be, while looking and feeling good about it. Now, though I contribute to and support NGOs in my own little way, I'm not intimidated by them any more! What makes me feel bad is if I saw an opportunity to encourage a woman into her destiny and I didn't.
I've refused to keep running another's race. I now run mine.

Are you running yours?

Muting Facebook notifications

Hello
I often hear people say "I'd love to make a comment or thumbs up on Facebook posts but I hate that I get a notification every time everyone else does after me". I feel you, I hate it too, that's why I have decided to share this simple way to do it.

Go to the top right corner of any post you've liked or made a comment on, click on the small drop down arrow and choose "turn off notifications for this post".
That's all, whatever happens next is NOYB (none of our business...lol) except you're tagged, then you'd have to remove the tag as well.

Hope this helped someone. If that someone is you, let me know in a comment below.

Till next time,

Watermelon and pineapple sorbet

Hey all
How are you doing? Today i'm doing a recipe post on how to make a watermelon and pineapple sorbet. It's an inexpensive, quick, easy and HEALTHY dessert that adults and children alike will love. I actually have a post on pineapple and water melon cocktail. You can read it here.

I make this particular sorbet with leftover pineapples and water melon. I cut them into small bite sized pieces and freeze them till i'm ready to do my sorbet.

Ingredients
Frozen pineapple and water melon pieces
water
honey (optional)

How to:
blend the frozen pineapple and watermelon with as little water as possible (just to get the blades rolling). When the paste is smooth, scoop into a bowl and freeze again for about 30 mins if you want it to have an ice cream like consistency, if not, you can consume it immediately.
mine was already melting before iI took this picture. I'll take a more solid one next time.
Drizzle a bit of honey over it if you wish to enhance the taste.

And that's it!
You can try this with single fruits and other fruit combinations.

If you make it and like, do let me know by dropping a comment below.

My next recipe post will most likely be on healthy, homemade dark chocolate....hmnnnn

Till next time,

Tips for wellness: Conquering procrastination

Hi y'all,
Thank God it's Friday! Hope you have some fun and relaxing events lined up for the weekend. Remember all work and no play makes Jack not only dull, but irritable, cranky, moody and stressed up.

Today, I'd like to talk about the "P" word from another angle.
It's one thing to procrastinate once, it's another to do it over and over again.

Let me give you an example.

Tola woke up with a jolt "Oh dear Lord, It's 7:00am, whatever happened to this my alarm clock?" It was Monday morning and she had a presentation at work for 8am. She is a young but successful chartered accountant who works as an internal auditor for one of the largest producers of consumer products in the country whose factory is in Ibadan. As she yawned and got out of bed, she remembered she needed to put finishing touches to her slides, she wanted to do it the night before but she was so tired from doing her night chores that she slept off in the living room. "I'll wake up by 5am and get it done in time for work" she had told herself, yawned then dozed off. Now it is 7:05am the next day and she was in a mad dash for the bathroom. On her way to the bathroom, she saw her phone lying somewhere between her pillow and the frame of the bed, she made a mental note to pick it up when she got out of the bathroom.

After a quick cold shower, she dressed up and grabbed her bag, her laptop and car keys and was on her way out when her husband, she got married just three months ago, called out to remind her she hadn't said her prayers.
"I'll do that in the car" she said, "love you hon, have a lovely day". On her way to work, she got a call from her sister, Lape. Lape was at the university and needed some money. Tola put the phone on hands free mode and they had the conversation all the way to work.

She got to work about 30 minutes later and while in the elevator, though to herself "Thank God I don't live in that mad house called Lagos, I'd have been in serious soup this morning".

She quickly settled in and started the needed corrections on her slides. When she got to slide 23, she remembered she needed to add some information from a text message she received from her colleague in Lagos two days earlier. Tola reached for her bag, rummaging through, searching for her phone, then it hit her, the mental image of her phone resting in peace somewhere between her pillow and the frame of the bed.

She rubbed her fore head with one hand and her neck with the other, her muscles tensed all of a sudden. She hadn't even read the text properly, if she had, maybe she would have been able to recall some of those figures. Picking up her table top phone, she was about to call her husband to ask if he was still at home when Susan, her secretary, peeped into her office and said "ma'am, it's time for the meeting, everyone, including the GM is seated and waiting for you"

Your guess is as good as mine on how the rest of Tola's day went. Maybe I'll share that some other time.
To conquer procrastination, we must learn to do it if we can, while we can and not keep pushing it till the next time. Once you remember what needs to be done, do it. If you can't do it at that particular time, write it down on a sheet of paper, set a timeline for it and paste it where you will definitely see it. This would save you a lot of stress, tight muscles and anxiety.

That's it for now
till next time,
stay BeYoutiful!

Attaining and maintaining a healthy weight

Hiya!
source

Yesterday I had so much fun!!! I had the rarest opportunity of sharing my knowledge and expertise with my church members! (yes, i was the "pastor" yesterday..lol, scary right?)

We talked generally about physical wellness: exercises, maintaining a healthy weight, stress management, getting adequate sleep and lots more.

We even got to warm up a little bit and it was kinda fun making CEOs, Consultants, and Chairmen (including my husband (tongue out)), jump up and down,

I'm looking forward to Saturday as we have some more fun. I sure could get used to this..lol

So today, I want to talk about something I didn't get to mention yesterday as time was limited, though i dropped a hint.
It's the fact that though you need to watch your calories, all calories are not equal!!!

No. no. no they are not!

source

"What do you mean?" I hear you ask

Now here's the deal.
The body is created to eat, metabolize and utilize "real food". But hey, we give it both the real deal and the fake deal anyway!

So when you consume the same amount in calories of natural butter against synthesized margarine, the body can make use of the butter, after all it needs fat for some of its processes, but the margarine? errrrm..... What happens with that is the body gets confused, "what is this?, what do I do with it? and then, its keeps it somewhere for you (as fat) until it can get answers to those questions.
When? Your guess is as good as mine, probably never!

Here's my point, consume real food, watch your portions, detoxify, exercise and relax!
Yes, that's how to attain and maintain a healthy weight.

This brings me to this all important piece of information...

yes wait for it!

I'm starting a coaching group for anyone who thinks they "don't have time" to live and be healthy. If you were in my church yesterday you'd know by now that is just a myth.
Anyways, I've called it "wellness for busy people" and its open to both male and female genders and will be operated on a monthly subscription basis on whatsapp.

What you will get:

Personalized meal plan with "real" foods you already love
Physical activity tips for busy people
Relaxation tips
Time and stress management tips
Recipes for healthy, new (or not so new) meals, starters, desserts and drinks
group accountability partner
and so much more
(I could even chip in some business tips from time to time)

To find out how much it is and the requirements to join, please send a whatsapp message to 07031609253.

Have a blessed February!
