Gingerade drink/ tea, refreshing and theurapytic

source
I promised to give some refreshing and healthy recipes you can make with fruits. so here's one of them. If you are trying to wean yourself off fizzy drinks or you just like natural refreshments, then you might want to try this and see if it catches your fancy.
This drink is made with Fresh ginger juice, fresh lemon juice, honey, water (you can use carbonated water if you are a soft drink fan) and ice.

Ginger improves digestion, reduces flatulence (fart...lol), relieves nausea (especialy in pregnancy), reduces sinus inflammation, clears the respiratory track, relieves muscle pain as a result of it's anti inflammatory property, and it also has some aphrodisiac properties (don't say i told you so o!)
lemon on the other hand is a super fruit, i wrote at length about it here
Honey contains flavonoids, antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease, it is Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, reduces cough and throat irritation, Honey has been used in ayurvedic medicine in India for at least 4000 years and is considered to affect all three of the body’s primitive material imbalances positively. It is also said to be useful useful in improving eyesight, weight loss, curing impotence and premature ejaculation, urinary tract disorders, bronchial asthma, diarrhea, and nausea. Even though honey contains simple sugars, it is NOT the same as white sugar or artificial sweeteners. Its exact combination of fructose and glucose actually helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. Some honeys have a low hypoglycemic index, so they don’t jolt your blood sugar.
And of course we all know we need lots of water to function!
So here's the recipe

Grate ginger, and squeeze out the juice, sieve out any chaff. you can add a teaspoon or so of hot water to the grated ginger before squeezing to make juicing easier. put your juice in a tall glass. The quantity you will use depends on your personal taste, i like a lot of ginger so i grate a medium sized ginger and use all of the juice, that's about 2 table spoons or more.
Squeeze out the juice of half a medium sized lemon, remove the seeds, add to the ginger juice, add honey, stir properly, fill the glass with 3/4 way with water, and mix thoroughly then top up with Ice or you can use hot water and make it a tea if you have a cold, it will work wonders.
Hope you try it and let me know what you think
till next time,
xx
