Nigerian Bridal makeup: Omolade 8th & 9th May, 2015
Hi
I had the pleasure of glamming up Omolade, also known as Ladmo by her chums, for her engagement and wedding.
She was really particular about her brows being bolder than they were for her introduction makeup which i blogged about here and Her lips for the wedding looking naturally glam.
Here are the looks i came up with.

My top 5 beauty blogs in Nigeria
My top 5 |
Did you read my last blog post? i see it had a lot of views. I would also appreciate it if you drop your comments and recommendations.
Today i want to talk about a few of the beauty blogs in Nigeria that i read from time to time. You can also get information about the Nigerian beauty industry as well as tips and tricks among others from them. Of you know i like my blog so i don't need to add it to the list. I'll talk about fitness and social media blogs next.
So in no particular order:
1. Stella of Stella's Addiction: I started reading Stella's blog a long time ago while she was still out of the country, France i think. She has a way of breaking down products that make you want to run out of the door and go get them for your own kit.
2. Yemisi of Misykona: Yemisi knows her stuff! This is one of my favorite blogs for information on the Nigerian beauty industry. She's always in tune and up to date.
3. Chidinma of That Igbo Chick: What attracted me to Chidinma's blog was her Ankara inspired makeup tutorial series. She has a vast product knowledge base and does a lot of you tube videos too.
4. Omobola of Glamosphere: Her blog is very informative. The day i met Mobola i was shocked! i Expected a fierce, boistrous and outgoing lady in line with the tone of her blog, Alas! she is a very gentle, soft spoken person. This removes nothing from my love for her blog though, in fact, i love it more!
5. Doyin of Chloe's makeover: She is absolutely fabulous. Doyin does makeup, hair, nails and other things beauty tutorials.
There's goes my top 5. What's yours?

Get your makeup done with these 10 fast and easy steps.
Hello,
As a makeup artist in Nigeria, i get asked for practical steps for fast and easy makeup application by brides and clients today i bring you practical steps to have your makeup done and dusted in little time.
Before you start your makeup, you need to take care of the canvass on which you intend to put your colours, your skin.
SKINCARE
Step 1 - Cleansing
Step 1 - Cleansing
Step 2 – Toning
Step 3- Moisturizing
How to Apply Makeup in 10 Easy Steps
What you will need: Concealer and Concealer brush or your fingers, foundation
and foundation sponge/brush, Mascara, eye shadows and brushes, blush and blush brush, Powder and Powder puff/brush, Lipstick, Lip Gloss
Process
1
Apply a concealer that is one
shade lighter than your foundation. Dot it on over any blemishes or under-eye
circles and blend with your fingertips or a makeup sponge. You can apply eye cream under your eyes before concealer to avoid caking.

2 Apply foundation in dots over the central part of your face, forehead, nose, cheeks above and beneath your mouth, then blend it out with a damp makeup sponge/brush or your fingertips until it covers
your entire face.
3
Apply powder to set your concealer and foundation, this will make your makeup last longer
4
Define your eyebrows using powdered
eyebrow shadow, or gel eyebrow
definer (Hegai and Esther brow definer is an excellent, and waterproof gel
definer) Apply it with a hard, slanted brush. If you don't have either of the above, use a brow pencil that suits your brow hairs. please don't use black except your hair is jet black. You can check my brow picture tutorials here and a video here
5
Choose three colors of neutral eye shadow, preferably in the same colour family:
light, medium and dark. Use the light
shade for the whole eye, from the the under brow to the lid. Use
the medium colour in the crease , and the darkest colour on the outer part of the
lid for definition. Blend properly.
6 Apply eyeliner. Use a gel or liquid eyeliner
with a damp, thin liner brush, or an eyeliner pencil, and line the lower lid
below the lashes. Line only the outer two-thirds of the lower lid, or all the
way across if you're trying to achieve a darker look. Line all the way across
the upper lid (just above the lash line and as close to the lashes as
possible), or start the line where your lashes begin. The upper liner should thicken as you move
towards the outer eye corner.
7 Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes, in two thin coats to avoid clumps. Black or brown-black works well for dark skinned ladies.
8 Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, and apply blush to the apples
or below, whichever you prefer. If you have to blend in blush, it's too bright.
9 Choose a lipstick color that's
suited to your skin tone and that's perfect for your day look. You can mix
colors and textures to suit your moods and your outfits. Nude colours like
light brown, peach, pink, brown are suitable for everyday looks. Save the ruby red
for special occasions and night time except you are in an industry such as mine where colour is very well entertained and accepted.
10
Line lips and apply lipstick.
Use a liner that is either your lip colour or the colour of your lipstick. Make sure you blend the liner and lipstick properly.
There you have it!
Do try these steps and let me know how it went.
Till next tim,
xx

My top 5 wellness tips for women
My
top 5 beauty and wellness tips
As a beauty and wellness coach to women in Nigeria,
I get asked a lot for tips to look good stay in good shape. In this article I
have enumerated a few of them that if followed will ensure you look good, feel
good and most probably be good, more often.
1. Connect:
Women were created to fill a relationship gap and up until this day we still
are called into that role. The greatest connection is one with your source,
God. Having a relationship with God makes other relationships easier.
When you connect genuinely with
people, you put yourself in a position to be of help to them and this gives you
an aura of joy and self-worth.
2. Keep
moving: Physical activity is very essential for mental, emotional and physical
wellness. Exercising not only help you lose weight or stay in shape, it also
helps reduce or keep off depression as there is a release of certain chemicals
called Endorphins which interact with receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and induce a feeling of euphoria.
People who exercise regularly often have a more positive outlook to life than
those who do not.
3. Eat
healthy: Eating healthy does not mean going on a diet (if you need to that, by
all means, please do it wisely). It just means eating regular but moderately
sized, balanced meals that contain the necessary macro and micro nutrients in
the quantities required for your body to function in whatever activity level it
is required. Eating healthy means making a choice to incorporate more natural,
wholesome and unrefined foods in your meals while reducing to the barest
minimum the refined, artificially flavoured and fat infused foods. It also
means making a great effort to incorporate portions of fruits and vegetables
into your meals and drinking lots of water daily.
4. Get
busy: Having something to do and or somewhere to go is a great esteem booster
for women. Pursue your dreams and visions, get a job, or start a business. Even
as a full time home maker, keep yourself busy with activities that will
stimulate your mind and brain. Take online courses, learn a business you can do
from home, make things you can sell during schools runs… the possibilities are
endless.
5. Look
good: Ever heard the phrase “dress the way you want to be addressed”? It’s
true! Now I’m not saying go overboard and get all the expensive clothes and
jewellery if you can’t afford them but simple things like knowing your body
frame and shape, how to combine wardrobe staples, what cuts and colour suit you
and how to dress for particular occasions will go a long way in ensuring you
look the part always. You don’t want to go to a formal occasion in jeans and a
T-shirt with unkempt hair, and nails as much as you don’t want to be at a beach
party in a 3piece suit.
Keep your nails and hair tidy at all times, use makeup if you
fancy but please let it suit your skin tone and undertones as well as the
occasion, smell good, and keep your mouth smelling fresh always (use mouth
fresheners or sugar free gum, but please don’t chew gum in a formal gathering).
The list above is not exhaustive
but as I earlier stated, following these five tips will give you a boost to
discovering and living the good life as a woman.

MUA guild: A revolution in the Nigerian beauty industry
Last week, An event was organized to herald the launching of the Nigerian makeup artist guild. It's been a long time coming in NIgeria, we need some level of sanity in the beauty industry. Unfortunately i couldn't attend because i got details late, couldn't get an impromptu driver to take me to Lagos and my new baby, My Figure8 female only fitness club in Ibadan needed some TLC that day. But here's the scope of the guild on Yemisi Nsure's blog and the event in pictures on the facebook page

Healthy alternative to fried plantain (dodo)
As a beauty and wellness coach in Nigeria, a wife and a mother, i often look for ways to make meal times in my family healthier while not necessarily compromising on taste. Here is a snack or side item i often make for my children and I. This part of the world, we are in love with fried plantain and eat it with pretty much everything from rice, to beans and even as a meal on its own. My alternative is grilling it in the oven.
Cut the ripe plantain into thin slices and coat your grilling rack with cooking spray, then grill in the oven at about 280 deg for about 20 mins or until well browned. To retain some moisture, wrap in foil after the first 15 mins.
It's tastes as delicious if not more than the traditional fried plantain plus you would have saved yourself about 200 Calories.
Try it and let me know what you feel.
xx
