My
top 5 beauty and wellness tips
As a beauty and wellness coach to women in Nigeria,
I get asked a lot for tips to look good stay in good shape. In this article I
have enumerated a few of them that if followed will ensure you look good, feel
good and most probably be good, more often.
1. Connect:
Women were created to fill a relationship gap and up until this day we still
are called into that role. The greatest connection is one with your source,
God. Having a relationship with God makes other relationships easier.
When you connect genuinely with
people, you put yourself in a position to be of help to them and this gives you
an aura of joy and self-worth.
2. Keep
moving: Physical activity is very essential for mental, emotional and physical
wellness. Exercising not only help you lose weight or stay in shape, it also
helps reduce or keep off depression as there is a release of certain chemicals
called Endorphins which interact with receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and induce a feeling of euphoria.
People who exercise regularly often have a more positive outlook to life than
those who do not.
3. Eat
healthy: Eating healthy does not mean going on a diet (if you need to that, by
all means, please do it wisely). It just means eating regular but moderately
sized, balanced meals that contain the necessary macro and micro nutrients in
the quantities required for your body to function in whatever activity level it
is required. Eating healthy means making a choice to incorporate more natural,
wholesome and unrefined foods in your meals while reducing to the barest
minimum the refined, artificially flavoured and fat infused foods. It also
means making a great effort to incorporate portions of fruits and vegetables
into your meals and drinking lots of water daily.
4. Get
busy: Having something to do and or somewhere to go is a great esteem booster
for women. Pursue your dreams and visions, get a job, or start a business. Even
as a full time home maker, keep yourself busy with activities that will
stimulate your mind and brain. Take online courses, learn a business you can do
from home, make things you can sell during schools runs… the possibilities are
endless.
5. Look
good: Ever heard the phrase “dress the way you want to be addressed”? It’s
true! Now I’m not saying go overboard and get all the expensive clothes and
jewellery if you can’t afford them but simple things like knowing your body
frame and shape, how to combine wardrobe staples, what cuts and colour suit you
and how to dress for particular occasions will go a long way in ensuring you
look the part always. You don’t want to go to a formal occasion in jeans and a
T-shirt with unkempt hair, and nails as much as you don’t want to be at a beach
party in a 3piece suit.
Keep your nails and hair tidy at all times, use makeup if you
fancy but please let it suit your skin tone and undertones as well as the
occasion, smell good, and keep your mouth smelling fresh always (use mouth
fresheners or sugar free gum, but please don’t chew gum in a formal gathering).
The list above is not exhaustive
but as I earlier stated, following these five tips will give you a boost to
discovering and living the good life as a woman.
